What are the signs of deep cystic acne?

Deep acne may occur with nodules, inflamed pustules, comedones and existing scars.
What increases the risk of scarring?

Yes. Boils, abscesses, inflamed cysts and hidradenitis suppurativa can resemble cystic acne. A hot, rapidly expanding, fluctuant or fever-associated lump requires prompt assessment.
